VMS Driver Operative, Starting salary of £25,300 Based out of Romford or Watford depot The Job: The primary role of a VMS Driver Operative is to support the VMS operations team in deploying and setting up our clients VMS units at locations provided by our customers. This role also involves collecting units when off-hired, conducting off-hire inspections, and minor repairs, and preparing units for hire in the depot. Additionally, responsibilities include carrying out battery exchanges, cleaning, and inspections on long-term hires in the field, as well as assisting the local depot in preparing, delivering, and collecting traffic lights and other products. The Benefits: Company Van Fuel Card Full Training Great Company Culture Feel Valued At Work Safe in the workplace Main Activities: Ensure all work within depots and customer sites prioritizes safety for oneself, colleagues, and clients. Maintain high standards of housekeeping and prevent/minimize environmental pollution incidents. Identify and mitigate potential hazards, reporting near misses promptly. Comply with company health and safety procedures, toolbox talks, risk assessments, method statements, and COSHH assessments. Conduct oneself professionally and courteously while attending client sites. Adhere to all client local site rules. Build and maintain professional relationships with colleagues across all departments. The Key Duties: Ensure adherence to safe working procedures. Deliver and collect VMS, CCTV, and traffic lights. Conduct full inspection, service, and repair of the hire fleet. Complete all relevant paperwork for delivery, collection, and inspection. Identify fair wear and tear and customer damage. Maintain cleanliness and legal compliance of the vehicle through daily checks. Ensure SRL checked equipment is fit for purpose. Liaise with customers before and after visits. Work safely, wear appropriate PPE, and keep work areas tidy. Occasionally work away from home and during night shifts. Essential Experience: Ability to work independently and in a team. Full driving licence with no more than 6 points. Desirable Experience: Basic electrical fault finding skills. Experience in a Highways environment. Basic knowledge of traffic light equipment. CSCS card holder. Competent in driving company vehicles and towing trailers with loaded plant equipment. Desirable Qualifications: GCSEs in English and Mathematics. City and Guilds qualification or equivalent in highways installations. Sector 8 Accreditation, Health, and Safety qualifications including NRSWA, G39, and ECS. Personal Attributes / Skills: Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Resourcefulness and strong problem-solving abilities. Commitment to delivering excellent customer experiences. Prioritization of safety for oneself and others. Reliability, flexibility, and initiative. Enthusiastic and collaborative approach. You must have the right to work in the UK and hold a valid UK driving license with maximum of 6 points
