We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Lancashire to assist with the appointment of an Senior Oracle OCI Database Administrator , on a 3- month contract , highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in the public sector on a state of the art project. Summary We are seeking a seasoned Senior Oracle OCI Database Administrator to join our team and contribute to the support and advancement of our OCI platform. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge and experience in managing, monitoring, and maintaining databases within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). They will be adept at handling tasks such as patching, upgrades, backup and recovery, cloning, and ensuring maximum availability of databases. Rate Of Pay: £166-£195 per day Hybrid Working with occasional office attendance Responsibilities: Contribute to and execute strategic initiatives of the Digital Service and LCC by delivering projects of various scales within challenging deadlines. Provide expertise in Oracle database administration, ensuring software installations, patching, upgrades, backup, recovery, and maximum service availability of the database estate. Implement robust OCI database security measures, including hardening, compliance, risk management, and capacity management. Perform troubleshooting of database-related issues in OCI and support in-house DBAs with ongoing workloads. Undertake performance diagnostics and tuning to optimize database performance. Collaborate closely with the Principal Engineer/Designer for databases and the project management team to ensure delivery of agreed solutions and maintenance of existing services. Drive efficiencies and cost-savings through continuous improvement of people, processes, and technology. Prioritize customer aspirations and requirements, ensuring they are central to all activities. Represent the Digital Service at various levels and attend customer meetings. Requirements: In-depth knowledge of Oracle Database (version 19c Enterprise Edition) and associated technologies on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Extensive experience in designing and implementing highly available, performant, and secure database solutions aligned with availability and disaster recovery strategies. Proficiency in management tools, utilizing OCI event and monitoring service, database system monitoring (OEM), administration, compliance, and capacity planning. Experience with Oracle Data Guard for disaster recovery. Experience in Oracle upgrades and database migrations, including familiarity with Linux operating systems and Oracle RU patching in OCI. Familiarity with Oracle Forms and Reports is a plus.
