Platform Architect Location : Luton Job Purpose and primary objectives: Oversee application architecture and deployment in cloud platform environments -- including public cloud, private cloud and hybrid cloud. This can include cloud adoption plans, cloud application design, and cloud management and monitoring. Key responsibilities (please specify if the position is an individual one or part of a team): Architecting, building, and maintaining cost-efficient, scalable cloud environments for the organization Keeping cloud environments secure and preventing downtime or security breaches Determining the risk associated with third-party platforms or frameworks. Support the Technical development activities; shape and design platform architectures for a proposal. Key Skills/Knowledge: Experience designing and architecting distributed data systems. Building reference architectures, how-to's and MVPs Guide customer as they implement transformational big data projects, 3rd party migrations, including end-to-end design, build and deployment of industry-leading big data and AI applications Consult on architecture and design; bootstrap or implement strategic projects which leads to a customers' successful understanding, evaluation and adoption of AWS specific products. Managing the complete AWS life cycle, along with security, provisioning, and automation Background in supporting business teams by providing subject matter expertise and guidance in modern data engineering Proven track record of driving decisions collaboratively, resolving conflicts and ensuring follow-through with exceptional verbal and written communications Experience with Big Data Technologies Cloud Native and Data Lakes in a customer-facing post-sales, technical architecture, or consulting role. Administrating and establishing the architecture of multi-tier systems Have built solutions with public cloud providers such as AWS (or Azure, GCP) Fine-tuning and configuring various cloud infrastructures Performing services such as kernel patching, errata patching, and software upgrades Creating backups and managing disaster recovery Maintaining access control, as well as the integrity of data, throughout the platform of the AWS application Effectively monitoring performance degree and its availability. Experience required: Ownership and Delivery. Has a clear focus to deliver results, working to targets, reviewing progress and adapting their plans, accordingly, motivating themselves/the team to achieve. Customer and Shareholder Value. Understands who their customers are and seeks to exceed their needs, focusing on the importance of safety for both customers and employees. Business Performance. Understands business and external environment, is cost conscious and understands the longer-term perspective and implications of decisions. Innovation and Change. Is open to new ways of doing things and questions existing approaches, views change as an opportunity, comfortable working in a dynamic and ambiguous environment. Building relationships. Have good working relationships with development team, Enterprise architects, business stakeholders and wider IT function.
