As a pioneer in large-scale marine robotic operations, our client utilizes cutting-edge technologies to capture ocean data and deliver maritime solutions while prioritizing sustainability and environmental responsibility. What will you be doing As a Junior Software Engineer, you will play a vital role in supporting the development of new software capabilities and integrating them with other programs and devices. Joining the subsea technology team, your focus will be on contributing to the control of sophisticated robotic equipment deployed from our client's Armada vessels.Your key responsibilities will include: Receiving comprehensive training on various software control systems running the uncrewed vessels, enabling you to make resilient software design decisionsAssisting in the building, testing, and deployment of softwareParticipating in the development of interface adapters and C++ programsSupporting senior Control Systems Engineers in their tasksContributing to the design, specification, development, and documentation of software solutionsAssisting in the integration of control systems into complex 3rd party systems, such as vessel control systems, electric Remotely Operated Vehicles ROVs, and geotechnical equipmentAdhering to the client's software development practices and effectively documenting developmentsCollaborating with OEMs and other vendors to aid development and resolve software issuesEngaging in peer code reviewsBeing prepared for domestic and international travel to support equipment and control system integration on shipsSupporting the development of software architecture to facilitate the company's systems designParticipating in and contributing to software sprints within the 'Control' team Are you the ideal candidate The ideal candidate for this role should possess the following qualifications, skills, and attributes:Essential: 1+ years of engineering experience in a suitable fieldProficiency in software development, particularly in C++ and .NETFamiliarity with version control using GitBasic knowledge of networking principlesAn interest in robotic control systems and their applicationsSelf-motivated and capable of working effectively within a team to meet deadlinesA strong passion for the development of cutting-edge robotics in the ocean sectorAbility to plan and estimate development tasks, ideally within an Agile frameworkThoughtfulness, thoroughness, and a conscientious approach to workA team player who values collaboration and seeks the best outcomes for the teamWillingness to take ownership and actively engage in assigned tasksAbility to handle sensitive and confidential situations with diplomacyExcellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environmentStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues of all levelsDemonstrates critical thinking and the ability to show initiativeOpen and receptive to new and innovative ideasEnthusiasm for contributing to the betterment of people and the planet Desirable: Familiarity with QTExperience with Jira and ConfluenceKnowledge of marine survey systems such as GNSS, inertial navigation, and subsea positioning systemsUnderstanding of satellite, telephony, and digital radio systemsExperience working with Virtual Machines VMsExposure to PLCs Programmable Logic Controllers or other industrial controllersFamiliarity with Bitbucket/GithubExperience in engineering project planning and time managementPrevious experience in supervising contractors or working with junior team membersCompetency in using office tools such as MS Office, Google Drive, Teams, and email What's in it for you Our client is committed to providing all their employees with the best possible work conditions and benefits, going beyond what's typically considered the 'market average.'
