Could you lead on in improving the educational experiences and outcomes of children with a social worker (CWSW), previously looked after children (PLAC) or those in kinship care? Do you understand the complexities for these groups of children, and could you provide strategic and practical support for schools and social workers? An exciting opportunity has arisen to for an Education Advisor to work within our well established and highly regarded Virtual School team, under the direction of the Deputy Head of Service for Extended Duties. The Extended Duties are being developed in support of the DfE's guidance on "Promoting the education of children with a social worker and children in kinship care arrangements: virtual school head role extension" Promoting the education of children with a social worker and children in kinship care arrangements: virtual school head role extension and in line with Promoting the education of looked:after children and previously looked:after children. As a qualified teacher with relevant senior leadership experience, you will use your skills, knowledge and expertise to be ambitious and aspirational for all our children and young people. You will work closely with local authority colleagues, schools and parents/carers to provide advice and guidance and to deliver high quality training to ensure that multi agency working is collaborative and effective. As an Education Advisor, you will be supporting the Deputy Head of Service to fulfil the priorities of the Extended Duties remit, helping with: :Making visible the disadvantages that children with a social worker and kinship care can experience, enhancing partnerships between education settings and local authorities, including with children's social care, to help all agencies hold high aspirations for these children:Promoting practice that supports children's engagement in education, recognising that attending an education setting is an important factor in helping to keep children safe from harm:Levelling up children's outcomes to narrow the attainment gap so every child has the opportunity to reach their potential : including helping to ensure that children with a social worker benefit from support to recover educationally from the impact of the pandemic This post is Fixed Term for one year due to DfE funding. Travel Requirements You will be required to travel to various locations within Hampshire, and it is essential that you have a current drivers' licence and access to a reliable vehicle on a regularbasis.
