Overview ESM Prep is a group of passionate educators seeking Academic Mentors excited to work at the intersection of education and business. Together, ESM prep and these brands provide a wide range of support to students including academic tutoring, college counselling, executive function coaching, and test preparation. Job Description Mentors will assist students one-on-one in preparing for college by readying them for the ACT and SAT exams and potentially other academic subjects, as well. We call our tutors Academic Mentors because we prioritise the holistic development of each of our students. All applicants should be passionate about working with youth and should have previous experience tutoring, teaching, and/or coaching. All our mentors are employees, not contractors. Job Requirements Bachelor's degree Prior experience teaching ACT/SAT is preferred. A past score or a score from a diagnostic test taken during the application process will be required to ensure sufficient expertise to teach the test at the highest level (note that successful applicants will receive further training at the start of employment) Must be able to tutor in person in London or virtually at least 2 to 3 times a week Additional expertise in tutoring multiple high school subjects–especially maths, computer science, and physics–is a plus! Available part-time. Tutoring usually occurs on weekday evenings (after 3 pm) and/or on weekends. Typical work schedule is Sunday-Thursday. Although the majority of the work is online, you must be available for in-person tutoring in students' homes or in our offices in Marylebone, London UK Available to teach 2-3 of our school courses at our partner schools in London and the home counties. Typically, these take place from September through December and are held once a week (8 sessions in total) either online or in person at the school. Availability for, and travelling to, the in-person courses is required. Available to tutor through June 2025 or longer Right to work in the UK Reliable internet access Compensation/Benefits £50 per hour one-on-one teaching rate £15 per hour admin rate Up to £90 per hour for in-person teaching at partner schools Additional £30 per hour rate will be paid for travelling to schools Flexible schedule Opportunity for some remote work Pathway to full-time–based on experience, performance, and subject range Competitive day rates for in-person school courses Train tickets, petrol etc. will also be covered for travelling to schools Phone stipend Employee discount program for mentoring for your own children Diversity and Inclusion We believe that diversity and inclusion enrich education and drive success.
