Job Role Title: Environmental Officer - Waste Enforcement Location: Dublin – North County and Dublin City roles available Contract Type: Full-time & Permanent Please note: It is essential to be based in Ireland and willing to work in the Dublin area. Full clean drivers license is an essential requirement. Unfortunately, the hiring company is not providing visa sponsorships at the moment. They are a leading professional service business within the Inspections & Compliance sector. Currently providing a wide range of services with an environmental aspect, with some major specialist contracts in waste and water regulation to public sector clients. They have ambitious plans for our Environmental services, and the role holder will play a large part in shaping and delivering ambitious growth plans. The Role: The Waste Enforcement Officer is responsible for conducting day-to-day inspections and the investigation of complaints to ensure compliance with relevant waste legislation. The role will be based out of the companies' clients offices and may require travel to other locations throughout the country. This is an operational role with accountability for delivering accurate and timely outcomes. You will have experience of process-driven activities, ensuring they are effective and efficient whilst also focusing on client relations. Role Requirements & Responsibilities: Investigate and report on all aspects of illegal waste activity. Ensure compliance with waste legislation and regulations made under the Waste Management Act 1996 and Regulation (EC) 1013 of 2007 on the international shipment of waste. This will include: - Inspecting and auditing all producers of waste - Inspecting and auditing waste facilities - Inspecting and auditing waste collection permit holders - Inspecting waste in transit Collect, manage and interpret data and gather intelligence in relation to illegal waste activities Accurately record the outcome of audits/complaint investigations and update data management systems Conduct overt and covert surveillance when necessary Prepare written reports on all non-compliances and suspected breaches of the legislation Give evidence in court cases resulting from your investigations Liaise with other enforcement bodies including Local Authorities, the Environmental Protection Agency, An Garda Síochána, Customs & Revenue Service and others Other duties as may be required from time to time Qualifications & Experience Required: Degree in Environmental Sciences (or similar) NVQ Level 8 or higher and/or minimum of 1 year to 5 years investigative experience Full clean driver's licence (min category B) Fluent in written and oral English Excellent oral and written communication skills Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team environment Excellent listening skills Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Key Competencies: Time Management Effective Communication Team Work Report Writing/Communication Data Management Conceptual/Investigative Skills Analytical Thinking & Technical Knowledge Benefits: Competitive industry-leading salary Company bonus scheme Competitive annual leave Company says Flexible working model Hybrid working Pension contribution Health insurance payment scheme Life assurance Maternity/Paternity/Parental Leave Maternity ay Carer's leave Income protection Bike 2 Work Scheme Travel tax saver Employee Assistance Programme Vaccinations Fruitful office In-house Training External training supports Peer-to-peer learning Study & Graduation Leave Personal development plans Performance reviews Career development planning CE Connect App Great Place to Work Team Competitions Birthday celebrations Special occasion gifts Charity support Open feedback culture Empathetic leadership Social events Feel free to apply through GreenJobs or send your CV directly to XXXX@gaiatalent.com
