Role Purpose: This position supports and maintains Sloughs control and monitoring systems. It also acts as an SME supporting new projects. As a member of the Automation Team, you will plan and co-ordinate responses to breakdowns within the GMP Manufacturing Facility and Laboratories. You will also work on improvement projects with external vendors and contractors within the department’s scope, including assessments and reporting activities adhering to deadlines. Key responsibilities: * Troubleshoot and eliminate site control system issues and handle controls projects, including: Wonderware/AVEVA, BMS IQVISION, IMS, DeltaV, SCADA platform, current PLC/DCS/DCS control systems, and control systems wiring * Knowledge of Calibration, HVAC, WFI, Utilities Plant. * Calibration management of instrumentation connected to systems for manufacturing and laboratories. * Interface with equipment vendors and contractors to troubleshoot and resolve startup issues. * Develop and document new control systems from concept to qualification. * Understand process control issues and develop control solutions to enhance process. * Maintain configuration control of current PLC/DCS source code. * Offer controls engineering support to plant operations / production in response to downtime events. * Ensure that all instrument calibrations are performed in adherence to the calibration schedule. * Ensure that tasks are conducted and records are maintained at a level that meets GMP, regulatory and quality requirements. * Supervise external vendor/contractor activity to make sure it meets the requirements your team leader defined. Key requirements: * Education/Qualification – HND minimum or equivalent * Experience of I/O’s, PLC/DCS, Control System Platform (SCADA, Building Management Systems BMS, Wonderware/Aveva), * Windows Servers knowledge, an understanding of, and ability to work with, high-level computer technology. * Understanding of control systems theory, including PID control, feedback control, and system dynamics. * strong teamworking skills, with an ability to motivate others and to lead or manage teams and projects * Previous experience within a regulated environment Every day, Lonza’s products and services have a positive impact on millions of people.
