Sixth Form Academic Mentor Location: Attleborough, Norfolk Salary: SCALE 12 A GBP 26,421 :17 A GBP 28,770 (A GBP 23,207 to A GBP 25,270 per annum Pro:rata) Hours: 37 hours per week The Academy is a member of the Trust, they are an expanding multi:academy trust with 10 primary and 7 secondary schools. The Academy is a popular, 11 to 18 Academy which is continually developing to meet the demands of providing the highest quality education for all students. Attleborough as a town is poised for major expansion and the Academy is the chosen secondary to have facilities developed as part of the Masterplan. Extensive building and development work is taking place in areas including their sports facilities, science facilities and Sixth Form. The Sixth Form is moving into newly refurbished facilities in September 2024, and this is an exciting time to join this committed and progressive team. The Role From September 2024, they seek to appoint an innovative and motivated Sixth Form Academic Mentor to support their growing Sixth Form. The successful candidate will be required to work with students and staff to improve academic outcomes and to make a positive difference to Academy life. They are looking for a passionate individual who can motivate and support students with their studies. A willingness to support the Academy ethos and support of extra:curricular activities within the Sixth Form is essential. The successful applicant will engage fully with the Level 3 qualification landscape, post:18 careers, and the broader work of the Sixth Form team to create well:rounded and successful adults. Key Responsibilities * To work with students to develop their approaches to challenging academic work while supervising private study sessions and in small groups or 1:1 mentoring.* Tracking and monitoring the completion of tasks by students during supervised study sessions and feeding back to teaching staff on the completion of those tasks.* Contribute to the development and implementation of systems for tracking, monitoring, and intervening with student performance.* Liaise with stakeholders to support the academic and wider development of students.* Develop effective resourcing of the supervised study centre for students to be able to access effective and relevant study tools in a timely manner.* Support Sixth Form leaders to develop and deliver comprehensive careers education, information, advice and guidance.* Oversee and support students in completing the Extended Project Qualification.* Support Sixth Form leaders in recruiting students to the Sixth Form and designing effective programmes of study at Level 3.* Oversee the administration of Work Experience for Y12 students and the Sixth Form Volunteering Programme* Provide administration support for Sixth Form events, including (but not limited to) university visits, revision seminars, visiting careers speakers, parents information events, and mock and formal exam series. Skills and Qualifications * Experience of working with children of the relevant age in a university, school, college, care, health service, social care or other youth environment* Degree qualified* English/Literacy and Maths/Numeracy qualifications at Level 2 : grade 5/B or equivalent* The effective use of ICT to support learning and administration* Working knowledge of the National Curriculum and Level 3 academic and vocational qualifications* Understanding of the principles of child development and learning processes* Ability to self:evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities* Ability to relate well to children and adults* Ability to work constructively as part of a team, understand classroom roles and responsibilities and the Academic Mentors position within these* The ability to communicate clearly and tactfully using appropriate methods and an awareness of the impact of that communication on others If you feel you are a suitable candida
