Principal Sustainability Consultant (Mat Cover)

Key Responsibilities The primary role is to provide sustainability data, reporting, and ESG advisory services to clients with real estate portfolios. This includes collaborating with clients and colleagues to deliver strategic outcomes and foster strong client relationships.The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of sustainability and broader environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues within both the built environment and corporate contexts. This should ideally encompass expertise in sustainability strategy, policy, reporting, data management, net zero initiatives, GHG accounting, Scope 3, environmental management, waste initiatives, ISO management systems, behaviour change, sustainable procurement, and compliance. Principal Responsibilities Lead and Grow Consultancy: Drive the expansion of sustainability consultancy services with a diverse client base of investors and occupiers. Data and Reporting: Provide sustainability data, reporting, and broader ESG expertise across various sectors, including occupier and investor markets. Innovation in Sustainability Projects: Manage and champion innovations in sustainability projects, such as reporting, data management, template development, process improvements, and quality assurance. Strategy and Frameworks: Support clients in developing bespoke sustainability strategies, data management frameworks, GHG accounting, and sustainability reports. General Sustainability Support: Offer strategic sustainability advice, environmental compliance audits, reporting and disclosure, tenant engagement, ISO14001 & ISO50001, EPC/EPC Plus & MEES risk review, WELL Standard, waste management, etc. Project Interface: Act as the point of contact and project interface for external consultancy teams managing social value assessments, pollution monitoring, energy auditing, waste services, certifications, and air quality assessments. Training and Communication: Deliver training materials and engage clients to support behaviour change. Communicate through presentations and interactions with clients and staff. Sustainability Standards: Contribute to the maintenance, development, communication, and implementation of sustainability standards within the Sustainability team. Data Analysis and QA: Oversee the collation and analysis of sustainability data and provide quality assurance as needed. Financial and Technical Management: Manage both financial and technical aspects of key fee-earning services. Business Development: Engage in activities such as pitching, responding to RFPs, and developing new business opportunities. Reporting and Marketing: Produce high-standard written reports for clients and develop marketing and case study materials highlighting team successes. Process Improvement: Enhance processes to improve efficiency, quality, and innovation within services Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Energy Management, Environmental Sciences, or equivalent. Experience: At least 6 years of experience in the sustainability field. IT Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Technical Expertise: Experience with sustainability/ESG data, systems, and reporting. Knowledge of sustainability reporting standards and frameworks, such as GRESB, GHG Protocol, Scope 3 Guidance, SECR, TCFD, EU Taxonomy, SFDR, ISSB, CSRD, GRI, CDP, and SBTi.
