The Housing Assessment Officer will be responsible for carrying out statutory duties under the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction act 2017.This role requires in-depth knowledge of housing legislation, and experience working closely with members of the public. Requirements Experience working in a similar role, within social housing or homelessness – 3 yearsKnowledge of housing legislation, policies, and procedure, including the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017Excellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenGood organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage workload efficiently, and meet deadlinesExperience providing an effective service to members of the publicExperience of managing budgets and expenditureAbility to manage own time and work load Role Expectations Provide housing advice to applicants, landlords, legal and financial institutions and any other external housing agenciesUndertake interviews and operational prioritisation procedures related to maintaining the Housing Register within HomeseekerPlus- the county wide choice based lettings schemeAssess homelessness applications and make decisions, keeping a record of all assessments and relevant documentationAssist the Homelessness Prevention Officers in all aspects of homelessness preventionDevelop relationships with key internal and external partners, in order to provide solutions such as access to properties, tenancy fraud, fire risks, and safeguardingMaintain Records: Accurately record all casework in line with relevant policies and procedures, ensuring confidentiality and data protection guidelines are strictly followed If you are interested in this position and meet the above criteria, please send your CV now for consideration.
