Purchasing Manager (LED Lighting) Purpose of the role: Working closely with the Product Management team to determine purchasing plans, stock availability and pricing strategies across 2,000 product lines and with multiple suppliers, with lead times ranging between 3 and 6 months. To develop and execute purchasing strategies, tracking metrics, negotiating deals, and managing vendors to ensure optimum product availability at the right cost, quality and availability to support our LED lighting sales efforts. C ollaborating with key stakeholders and suppliers globally, this role is responsible for demand forecasting, analysing costs and negotiating with suppliers to mitigate risks to the business, and determining optimal delivery quantities and timings. Department: Product Management, LED Lighting Division Reports to: Divisional Product Manager Responsibilities: Performing all procurement activities including pre-qualification, negotiating supplier agreements, preparation of contracts and tender management Responsible for purchasing transactions, proactively negotiating pricing and regular benchmarking other suppliers, alongside the other buyers Understand products and market dynamics to negotiate prices with suppliers, in agreement with Product Managers Manage, mentor, train, and guide buyers under your management within the Product Management team, as well as the Packaging Buyer. Identifying areas for improvement to continually drive performance and business results, managing overall direction, coordination and evaluation of procurement for the organisation Creating policies and procedures for risk management and mitigation Be responsible for StockIQ (our AI Purchasing system) ensuring that all data (including Memory, LED, and Packaging) coming into the system (e.g. lead times, suppliers, etc.) are accurate and up to date Utilise demand forecasting and inventory planning tools to analyse orders and sales data to understand what is selling, what is not, and what is in short supply etc. Analyse data from planning tools and take necessary actions to satisfy demand Build up a sales forecast based on outstanding quotations and inputs from the sales team, taking into account constantly changing lead times Optimise levels of stock holding to maximize sales, but avoid inventory losses due to deterioration, obsolescence, and other causes. Agree and plan stock turn levels in conjunction with management Release, process, and chase orders to ensure goods are available. Follow and manage the importation of products and plan and arrange testing in line with company procedures Be aware of supplier’s strengths and weaknesses and develop relationships with their competitors. Occasionally, suggest new products to the Product Managers and report on developments in markets and products you see through your contact with suppliers. Ensure quality products are bought, liaising with suppliers on issues Manage lead-time and order date, and report any delays and liaise with sales to communicate issues early Travel to suppliers in Asia and visit trade shows as required Build and maintain relationships with the European and East Asian vendors. Requirements: Experience of purchasing and importing products from China is essential Ideally, a relevant Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in a business-related field alongside a CIPS qualification or similar 4 years+ experience of senior level purchasing, ideally gained within a fast-moving electrical or electronic product environment -semi-conductor or LED Lighting background is especially of interest.
