The role will develop new API on the Apigee Edge platform & play a crucial role in the design, development, implementation, integration & maintenance of various & complex API solutions using Apigee Edge. Position: Software Engineer, Developer, Application Developer, Software Design, Architecture, API Developer Purpose: Design, develop, implement, integrate & maintain complex API solutions using Apigee Edge to ensure seamless integration & communication between different systems, applications & services whilst maintaining operational management & security of the platform. Technology: API Gateway, Apigee Edge, Apigee X, MuleSoft, Rapid API, Tyk, Boomi, Postman, Kong CI/CD, RESTful, DynamoDB, JavaScript, Python, Java, Docker, Kubernetes, cloud platforms e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, SOAP, HTTP Location: Fully remote Anywhere UK. Work from home Nature: Permanent, Full Time Hours: Monday – Friday 09.00 -17.30 Salary: £65,000 - £70,000 basic + 20 bonus & comprehensive benefits Key Activity: • Gather & analyse business requirements• Design & develop API Gateway solutions• Create custom code• Configuration of Apigee Edge• API integration • Systems security & authentication• Customisation & integration• Manage; test, build & release processes• Identify areas for modification or improvement Overview: The role will provide a robust technical resource to support the build & delivery of effective API Gateway solutions on the Apigee Edge platform. You will play a critical role in the design, development, implementation, integration & maintenance of various & complex API solutions. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including other developers, architects, software engineers, Product owners & the QA team, you will help design, build & maintain Application Programming Interfaces APIs, which serve as the vital communication channels allowing different software systems to interact seamlessly. You can also expect to be involved in the selection & integration of new API integration platforms. Responsibilities: • Collaboration with stakeholders throughout SDLC • Design, develop & implement secure RESTful APIs using Apigee Edge • Collaborate with solution architects & development teams to create scalable & secure API solutions • Write reusable, testable & efficient code in line with best practices • Configure & customise Apigee Edge policies, proxies, & components • Implement security measures & authentication mechanisms to protect APIs • Integrate APIs seamlessly into various applications • Troubleshoot integration issues to ensure smooth communication between systems • Implement monitoring & logging solutions to track API performance & optimise efficiency • Assess & implement optimisations to enhance the overall API ecosystem • Document APIs, including specifications, usage guidelines, & troubleshooting procedures • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, software engineers, architects, QA, & business stakeholders. Candidate Profile: Candidates should possess similar firsthand experience in API Gateway Development. Your skillset & experience is likely to include some of the following: • Apigee Edge or Apigee X certification • API integration platforms: Apigee Edge, Apigee X, MuleSoft, Rapid API, Tyk, Boomi, Postman, Kong • Designing & developing APIs using Apigee Edge • API design principles, RESTful architectures, & web services • API security, authentication, & authorisation mechanisms • Continuous integration & deployment CI/CD pipelines • Programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, or Java • Cloud platforms e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud • Designing DynamoDB tables for scalability & efficiency • Designing, implementing & optimising SOAP services handling complex data structures & integrating SOAP with other technologies • Optimising HTTP performance, implementing caching strategies & understanding advanced HTTP features • Containerisation & orchestration technologies e.g. Docker, Kubernetes @mecscomms: uniting opportunity with ambition in Telecoms Media Technology @mecscomms is the brand name of MECS Communications Ltd who provide permanent & contract recruitment consultancy service as an Employment Agency & Employment Business.
