Nurture Room Assistant Location: Cranleigh, Surrey Salary: A GBP 19,004 : A GBP 20,873 per annum (Depending on experience) St Josephs deliver an embedded therapies approach with their therapy team working in the classroom alongside their education staff. The Nurture Room provides a key space for the students to have a break from the classroom and engage in therapeutic activities. This is a unique working environment and provides the opportunity to gain invaluable therapy experience. Supporting the students can sometimes be challenging. Physical and mental resilience is crucial, you need empathy and compassion and should possess the drive to make a real difference to the lives of the young people. You will have the ongoing support of a skilled and dedicated team. Comprehensive training and mentoring include learning about safeguarding, autism and positive behaviour support are provided The Role They are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join them as a Nurture Room Assistant in their Therapy Team which comprises Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Therapy Assistants and specialist Drama, Art and Music Therapists. Working 36 hours a week over 39 weeks (term time) the role will commence as soon as possible (following successful interview and completion of pre:start compliance and training). They are looking to appoint a resourceful and committed person who is able to promote outstanding learning and care by taking on this role supporting in the Nurture Room. Under an agreed system of supervision, you will take a lead role within the sensory room to address the needs of students while assisting with all sessions which take place in there. You will advise and work alongside class Teaching Assistants to support pupil access to the Nurture Room and be able to deliver learning activities using the sensory room. Your working week is 35 A hours (08:30 : 16:00 on Monday, 08:30 : 16:15 on Tuesday to Thursday and 08:30 : 15:45 Friday) each week during term time and on In:Service training days plus 30 minutes per week that can be worked flexibly to suit operational needs. Skills and Qualifications No prior experience is necessary as full training will be given but a positive can do attitude, along with physical and mental resilience is essential. This role might suit someone who has recently finished their degree or has been working as a TA or LSA and is considering a move into therapies or an SEN environment. Starting salary is based on previous experience.
