Description: The Digital Department is looking to appoint a suitably qualified, dynamic Teacher of Games Design. Now is an exciting time to join my clients growing department which offers students the highest standard of Digital education across a variety of courses. My client boasts outstanding IT facilities, the latest technology, links with both national and local businesses and a strong, supportive department. The successful applicant will be able to teach levels 1-3 and understands BTEC and OCR awarding bodies. Key Purpose: To deliver up to level 3 as required by HoD in the curriculum area.To participate in all enrichment and extra-curricular activities as required by HoDIt is desirable that the teacher can also deliver another subject within another curriculum area. Must Haves: A good honours degree in a relevant subject discipline or significant experience within the Games industry. Teaching Qualification (e.g. PGCE) Training to include experience of Year 12 and/or 13 teaching (for trainee teachers) Evidence of ongoing Professional Development Ability to teach up to level 3 Ability to contribute to the teaching of a level 3 BTEC Ability to motivate students with differing abilities and needs Ability to effectively monitor student attainment and use data to improve performance Excellent communication interpersonal and organisational skills Ability to meet all deadlines A willingness to contribute to departmental enrichment activities Be able to contribute to the preparation of Oxbridge/Russell group candidates A commitment to high standards of student attendance, punctuality and attainment Ability to take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of the young people you are responsible for or come into contact with A willingness to perform the role of a personal tutor Wholehearted dedication to getting the best results for every student Dynamic positive and forward thinking Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining accuracy and effective outcomes Enjoy working with young people Ability to work on own initiative Flexible team player Willingness to learn new skills High expectations of self and others Strong values and commitment to the Colleges ethos Demonstration of proactive support for equality diversity and inclusivity Commitment and responsibility to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of learners, children and vulnerable adults Commitment to College policies i e Health & Safety Equality Diversity & Inclusion DBS Check acceptable to the college will be undertaken for successful applicant They also require applicants to have: A good knowledge and experience in 3DsMax, with an understanding in Maya and/or Blender. Knowledge of games design software (Unreal Engine) as well as Adobe Products, some experience in Revit /Unity would be useful. Familiar with conceptual and design pipeline process of games art and product development. Passionate about the games design and gaming industry. Ability to utilise new technologies to engage, inspire and excite students in the subject area. A student first, creative, fun and exciting approach to teaching and learning in the classroom Desirable Attributes: Proven record of teaching advanced levels.Proven record of teaching a level 3 or level 2 BTEC course.Knowledge and experience of the personalised learning agenda.Proven record of use of assessment for learning strategies.Previous experience of running clubs or extra curricular activities.Experience of University application procedures and support of Oxbridge candidatesProven strategies for improving and maintaining high student achievement attendance and punctuality.Experience of participating in a team which has successfully introduced a new course. Duties & Responsibilities: Participate in key College processes as required e.g. enrolmentTo act at all times in accordance with College policies e.g. Health and Safety, Equality & Diversity, Inclusion, Quality Assurance and the College CharterTo work flexibly in the interests of the organisation as requiredTo participate in appraisal and to undertake staff development activities as appropriateTo be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults you are responsible for, or come into contact with.To teach related courses in accordance with the college timetable.To support students in their learning.To assess students' progress and maintain accurate records of students' achievements.To provide accurate reports and information to others as required by college quality assurance procedures. Ensure that an appropriate syllabus is selected for any subject for which they have responsibility and delivered to the required standard. Provide schemes of work by which the curriculum will be delivered. Provide books, materials and facilities within budget allocated. Ensure you are kept fully informed about developments in the subject and about general educational issues which may affect the subject.Prepare internal assessments, ensure that marking is consistent with that throughout the department and provide related statistics and comments on performance for the Head of Department.Be aware of developments in your subject in High Schools and keep High Schools informed of courses here, taking part in liaison and recruitment activities both in College and High SchoolsCo-operate and liaise with other departments as and when requiredCarry out other routine and ad hoc administrative tasks as directed by the Head of Department/Head of College.
