Early Years Practitioner Location: Bradford, BD13 2DT Salary: A GBP 12.01 per hour Dedicated to providing child:care and education since 1896 and conveniently situated on the main Halifax road overlooking the picturesque Shibden Valley, our clients spacious schoolhouse has been especially designed and remodelled to create a warm, homely, loving and nurturing environment for your 21 st century child. The Role * To work as a professional Early Years Practitioner, providing quality care and to be responsible for the childrens care and safety on a daily basis.* To put the childrens needs and interests first understanding that all children are unique and individual.* To work in accordance with the Welfare requirements / Early Years Foundation Stage and Every Child Matters.* Work as a team player, co:operatively and with flexibility. Duties and Responsibilities * To communicate clearly and effectively with parents/carers at all times. Discuss their childs progress and development regularly, to establish and maintain good relationships.* To participate in parents meetings/evenings, fundraising events, promotion of the nursery and childrens outings.* To ensure equal opportunities for all including children, parents/carers, staff, volunteers and students, actively promoting anti:discriminatory practice.* To be familiar with child protection procedures and to understand the safeguarding children (child protection) policy.* To understand and care for the childrens needs with regards to their physical, emotional, social and intellectual development.* To avoid stereotyping and understand that all children are different.* To follow and adhere to the confidentiality policy.* To be a good role model:setting a good example to the children, practitioners and students* To positively manage childrens behaviour.* When required prepare meals and babies bottles following hygiene procedures.* To ensure high standards of hygiene and cleanliness.* To understand and follow emergency and security procedures.* To have an understanding of the Welfare requirements and Every Child Matters.* To actively promote childrens rights and empower all children (listen to children, respect children and respect their views and opinions).* To supervise the children whilst playing indoors, outdoors and at mealtimes.* To monitor health and safety within the room and outside areas and reporting any new risks to senior staff.* To plan and prepare stimulating and suitable activities for all children which are age appropriate and in conjunction with the Early Years Foundation Stage.* To create a stimulating, attractive and safe environment for all children.* To observe and record childrens progress and development participating in a key worker/person system.* To follow the medication policy, knowing who the designated persons are for administering medication, and to ensure that parents/carers sign the correct forms before and after the medication has been administered.* To attend to injuries and accidents, knowing who the first aiders are. To care for and monitor a child who has had an accident, filling out the accident forms accurately ensuring that parents/carers are informed, and the form is signed at the end of the day.* Such other duties as the management may assign from time to time. * To ensure all planning and the childrens profiles on Family are up to date, assisting and helping colleagues if necessary.* Responsible for ensuring defects and repairs are reported.* Ensure the effective and regular removal of waste materials to the designated waste storage area. Skills and Qualifications * Must be at least Level 3 qualified in a UK recognised early years qualification.* Excellent understanding of EYFS.* Extensive knowledge of safeguarding.
