The Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) works to develop and deploy advanced technology in pursuit of solving some of humanity’s most challenging and enduring problems. Guided by world leaders, scientists, and entrepreneurs, EIT seeks to accelerate innovation by driving scientific and technological advancements across four humane endeavours: health and medical science, food security and sustainable agriculture, climate change and clean energy, and government innovation and era of artificial intelligence. EIT Oxford is a new interdisciplinary research and development facility that bridges The Oxford Science Park and Littlemore. Set for completion in 2026, the state-of-the-art facility will have 30,000m2 of research laboratories, an oncology and preventative care clinic, plus educational and meeting spaces. Keep Track of Latest AI Models and Advances in the AI Field Research Tools: Use AI research databases like Arxiv, Google Scholar, and specialized AI newsletters (e.g., Import AI, The Batch by deeplearning.ai) to stay updated. Conferences and Workshops: Regularly attend AI conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, AAAI) to gain insights into the latest research and network with researchers. Collaboration Platforms: Participate in online forums and communities like AI Alignment Forum, LessWrong, and Reddit's AI communities. 2. Brief AI Capability Leadership Team and EIT Execs Monthly Reports: Prepare monthly summaries of key AI developments, focusing on advancements relevant to health missions. Executive Briefings: Conduct quarterly briefings for leadership, including detailed impact analysis and strategic recommendations. Visual Aids: Use infographics, charts, and presentations to make complex AI topics accessible to non-experts. 3. Scope AI Methods and Projects with Mission Lead Needs Assessment: Conduct workshops and interviews with mission leads and stakeholders to identify pain points and opportunities for AI intervention. Feasibility Studies: Perform initial feasibility studies for proposed AI projects, considering data availability, technical requirements, and potential impact. Roadmaps: Develop detailed project roadmaps outlining the scope, timeline, milestones, and resource requirements. 4. Identify Emerging Research for Strategic Impact Trend Analysis: Analyse trends in AI research to identify emerging technologies that could be transformative (e.g., GPT-4.5, quantum AI, federated learning). Strategic Fit: Evaluate how these emerging technologies align with Endeavours' strategic goals and missions. Pilot Programs: Propose pilot programs to test the applicability of cutting-edge AI research in real-world scenarios. 5. Assess Impact of Latest AI Models on Missions Impact Metrics: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the impact of AI models on missions (e.g., accuracy, efficiency, cost savings). Simulation and Testing: Use simulation environments to test AI models before deployment, ensuring they meet the required performance standards. Resource Forecasting: Develop models to predict the resources needed for AI projects, including computing power, data requirements, and human expertise. 6. Build and Maintain Relationships with AI Researchers Networking: Attend academic conferences, workshops, and industry meetups to network with AI researchers. Collaborative Projects: Initiate and participate in collaborative research projects with universities, research labs, and other organisations. Partnership Agreements: Establish formal partnership agreements with key research institutions to facilitate knowledge exchange and joint ventures. Action Plan for Implementation Set Up Monitoring Systems: Establish regular monitoring systems for AI advancements using RSS feeds, alerts, and subscriptions to relevant journals and newsletters. Regular Communication: Schedule regular meetings with leadership and mission leads to update them on AI developments and project progress. Research Collaborations: Proactively reach out to potential research partners and set up collaboration frameworks. Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of all AI initiatives, including project scopes, impact assessments, and collaboration agreements.
