The role: We are looking for a talented Senior Embedded Software engineer to work on the Embedded Software for our current products as well as other exciting R&D projects across the entire lifecycle of Luminary ROLI products. As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer, your responsibilities will include designing and developing robust and innovative embedded software solutions, methodically testing them prior to release, and writing and maintaining their technical documentation. You will be part of a multi­-cultural, multi­disciplinary group of talented engineers and designers and will produce work to the highest standards. We hold daily standup meetings with the wider hardware team and encourage discussion and collaboration between members across the whole product lifecycle. What you’ll do : Development of complex, reliable code on an ARM-based microcontroller (specifically the Cortex M series) using C and C++ Take ownership of key areas of firmware development from architecture through to release to manufacturing Work closely with Software, QA, and Electronic Engineers to ensure code is fully integrated with hardware and software Release new products, enhance and maintain existing products Maintain high standards of coding practice, revision control and task management Communicate effectively and respectfully to ensure end-to-end quality What you’ll need: Proficiency with C and C++ development and version control Experience working with ARM-based microcontrollers in a bare-metal environment Strong software debugging skills A working understanding of electronics and electronics prototyping/debugging Experience bringing up custom PCBAs Experience with multiple stages of the product development lifecycle Familiarity with multiple interface types such as USB / SPI / UART / MIDI / I2C / I2S Experience with scripting languages (we use Python) / Git / Github / Jira or equivalent An inquisitive mind and demonstrable examples of implementing proactive solution Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues in a cross-disciplinary team Bonus points: Familiarity of the principles of Digital Signal Processing Experience with USB enumeration and USB-PD PCBA design skills (we use Altium) Experience with test and build automation Our Mission: Luminary's mission is to enable more people to experience the transformative power of life-long music-making.
