Where ambitious individuals work together to solve the issues our young people face. Gabriel's can:do attitude got him to where he is now. It was his colleague, Kath, who encouraged him for a data analyst secondment while working in our HR team, having started with the council in the Contact Centre. Gabriel was enrolled on a data apprenticeship that the council offered after finding that university wasn't for him. Gabriel's now part of the Public Health team spotting trends and patterns in young people's eating habits and overall health in local schools. His work underpins the team's core initiatives by identifying and enabling data:informed decisions across the borough. Gabriel's insight allows services and support to be provided where it's most needed. Gabriel and the team contribute wholeheartedly to the wellbeing of our residents. And he's an integral part of our collective efforts to make sure children are given the best start in life. The Role: As a Public Health Apprentice, you will have a positive impact on the lives of our residents from day one. You will have real life experience as you support the Public Health team in their work to reduce health inequalities. nurturing local partnerships and key community relationships. This is a three:year integrated degree (BSc Public Health). Each week you'll spend a day at the University of East London and have a day of study leave. The other three days of your working week will be spent supporting the Public Health team delivering public health programmes and creative projects. You will connect with local community groups, getting insight from your peers, and working with council frontline services, voluntary sector organisations and local NHS services. Additionally, you will engage with residents, offering Public Health support, and supporting specific public health projects in your first year. In your second year, you'll begin offering evidence based public health support and guidance to residents, and use best practice to develop, implement, evaluate public health interventions within our communities. By your third year, you'll be capable of leading, coordinating, and supporting public health interventions into our communities and measuring success and outcomes. About You: Bringing a passion and demonstratable interest in public health, you will have experience of working or volunteering with communities or community organisations. You are enthusiastic, motivated and focussed with a desire to develop understanding across the three domains of public health : health services, health protection and health improvement. On a personal level, you are a natural communicator capable of building great working relationships with colleagues and peers. You might have experience or links with communities experiencing health inequalities across the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) or Westminster, but this isn't a necessity. You are organised, logical and research minded, with the ability to work independently and to deadlines.
