Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police are looking to recruit an additional Instructor/Trainer to join its Learning and Professional Development function.Engaged communities are central to the detection, prevention and reduction of crime and help us to maintain public safety. It is vital that we sustain and build public confidence in the police, and also ensure our officers and staff are equipped and confident to police effectively.Working primarily within the Public and Personal Safety Training Team, you will be part of a successful and integral team that delivers effective and up to date physical, self:defence programmes and annual 'refresher' training for our police officers and police staff in accordance with Home Office guidelines, Force policy and Health and Safety regulations. Ideally, you will have a strong coaching and development mentality with background experience in dealing with conflict, an understanding of the National Decision Model and in the development and provision of physical training and/or self:defence training sessions. A flexible approach to working hours (including some weekend working) and the ability to travel to different locations within Hampshire and the Isle of Wight is essential. Finally, you will need to commit to complete the Trainer Essentials Programme (TEP) in order to meet the College of Policing's minimum standard for Trainers at Level 4, if you currently do not meet the police sector standard. A probationary period of 12 months applies to this post. About The Role Your role will be to develop and deliver Knowledge and Skills Training, on agreed subject areas, to staff and partners of Hampshire and IOW Constabulary. Responsibilities will be but not limited to: 1 To deliver a range of existing police officer/police staff courses, ensuring the learning objectives are achieved.2 To assist with the design and delivery of new training programmes to meet identified needs within the workforce.3 To design and produce clear, concise and well presented training support material, for use, before, during and after training.4 To offer appropriate guidance to participants, in order to facilitate their personal development, understanding, and help them adopt suitable responses to work related performance issues. 5 To liaise and consult with other colleagues within the L and D Department, wider operational units/departments, other forces and partner agencies in order to identify, analyse and discuss a variety of training solutions for the organisation.6 To undertake continuous assessment/validation/evaluation of the training programmes, ensuring that it is appropriate to the needs of individuals, the organisation and is of a consistently high standard.7To maintain and develop personal skills and knowledge to ensure currency of training and development initiatives and local/national police and public sector initiatives.8 To assist and provide objective evidence to support the removal of a learner from a programme via under performance or inappropriate behaviour. 9. To undertake a range of associated administrative tasks, including: Maintaining appropriate written records. Storing and maintaining physical training and tactical training equipment, including carrying out safety checks. 10. To be aware of Force policy on Equality Act, Health and Safety and Data Protection and to comply with the legislation and the standards of "good practice".11. Be able to work effectively as
