As Refugee Housing Adviser you will work closely with the Councils Refugee Outreach Team to carry out early intervention to ensure that asylum seekers in NASS accommodation and refugees who have recently gained status have access to housing advice and support. You will manage your own case load of asylum seekers/refugees and other homeless applicants to assess their housing needs. You will offer housing advice to prevent homelessness and support clients to access a broad range of housing options. Attitude is key. The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, highly motivated with excellent communication skills and have sufficient experience of working with residents to provide housing advice and housing solutions, preventing homelessness, and assessing homelessness applications under part 7 of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended).If you are interested in this role or have any questions Stefan Bicknell, Housing Advice and Homelessness Manager. The key responsibilities are: :Provide housing advice and support to prevent and resolve homelessness among asylum seekers and refugees who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.:Be the main point of contact between the Refugee Outreach Team and the Housing Solution Team, as well as the Home Office and National Asylum Seekers Service (NASS).:Identify and assess support needs and refer to relevant housing pathways and support services.:Develop and implement new processes in coordination with Refugee Outreach Team to ensure early intervention prior to the end of NASS support to prevent homelessness.:Assess, administer and make decisions on the outcome of individual homelessness applications under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended) in accordance with legislation and case law.:Maintain high levels of excellent customer care and empathy throughout.
