The are now looking to recruit a UK qualified solicitor into a Legal Manager position, who will report into the GC and be responsible for proactively managing the strategy and function of the in-house legal team, along with the relationships with key internal stakeholders and external legal firms - assuming day to day responsibility for the running of the department. This is a critical position and requires a lawyer with substantive PQE, who has significant experience of working with and balancing the demands of an array of subsidiary businesses. Communication skills, pragmatism, diplomacy, vision and acute commerciality are absolutely essential pre-requisites, along with leadership and the ability to forge long lasting relationships. The Legal team forms a part of a wider function which incorporates governance and insurance and you’ll work in a highly strategic position, alongside the GC on various reviews, JVs and regulatory horizon-scanning, identifying potential changes and plc commitments along with day to day management of the legal team. Sector specific experience is secondary, although those lawyers who have had a background in construction, development or property are especially welcome to apply. This is a position which is offered on a hybrid basis with x3 days a week required in their prestigious offices in Sheffield.
