Job Details Role Title: SSD CSI Deputy Technical Manager : HC616600 Location:Portsmouth Starting salary:Scale SO1, GBP 33,915 : GBP 35,982 per annum. Market rate supplement of GBP 4000 a year Contract: Permanent Hours: 37 hours per week (flexible working) Closing Date:Wednesday 22nd May 2024 at 23:59 hours Are you looking for a new opportunity? You will deputise for the Scientific Services Department Technical Manager with implementing and maintaining ISO quality standards. You will ensure compliance with the Forensic Science Regulators requirements across Hampshire and IOW Constabulary as well as partner agencies, delivering an integrated quality and training management framework for the provision of all forensic services. Key accountabilities include but are not limited to: : Assist the Technical Manager with working with key stakeholders including ICT and corporate services e.g. H and S to ensure that corporate policies and procedures comply with all legislative requirements (quality and non:quality). : Under the direction of the TM maintain quality technical processes and systems in all areas of service delivery to assist attain and retain accreditation to relevant industry quality standards. : Develop relationships and work closely with key stakeholders within the criminal justice system (including but not limited to UKAS, FCN, TF, and University partners) to ensure that Scientific Services achieves accreditation within the timeframes outlined by the Forensic Science Regulator and remains at the forefront of forensic innovation. : Facilitate validation and verification of technical equipment, personnel and processes. : Support the TM Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and other quality processes : Act as a subject matter expert in their technical area/discipline and remain fully conversant with existing and emerging technologies as well as industry quality standards including ISO 17025, ISO 17020 and the FSR Codes. : Deliver effective staff competency programmes, ensuring that robust records are kept of initial, ongoing and lapsed competence. : Work alongside the Quality dept. and wider quality and training team to ensure that technical and quality processes/systems are correctly maintained and any service failures reported and investigated fully. : Monitor and report on technical performance ensuring that quality and performance objectives are reported to the Technical Manager for review. : Support departmental leads/SSD projects in relevant areas during the project life cycle from a technical specialist point of view. Additional Requirements The role holder may be required to visit other locations within Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, and therefore needs to have the ability to travel as necessary. The post holder will have to provide their fingerprints and DNA for elimination purposes as a requirement of the post. May be asked to carry out fire warden duties to meet required standards if required. Essential Qualifications Educated to QCF Level 3 in a relevant technical subject or have relevant vocational experience (College of Policing or similar Crime Scene Investigator courses) that would bring the post holder to the required standard. Essential Experience Previous operational experience as a Crime Scene Investigator. Demonstrate experience of successfully coordinating an accredited ISO quality management system at 17025/17020 levels as a minimum in a professional environment. An understanding of root cause analysis and implementing effective corrections and corrective actions. (Non:conformance processes).
