Technical Manager : Forensic Collisions Investigation Unit Job Type : Full Time, Permanent Location: Witham House, Lincoln Salary: SG3 (A GBP 41,928 : A GBP 46,674) Hours: 37 hours per week The Role Lead the achievement and maintenance of ISO 17025 and ISO 17020 accreditation and FSR Code of Practice compliance regarding Forensic Collision Investigations within the FCIU by ensuring that all procedure documentation, equipment validation and staff competence remains up:to:date, and acting where it is not. Provide leadership in the standardisation of all procedures and processes within Forensic Collision Investigations that complies with mandated regulatory standards. This will include validating tools and equipment through complex technical methods and ensuring the acquisition and maintenance of competencies for the staff in the fields of forensic collisions and vehicle investigations. All staff involved in carrying out functions in this role will do so in accordance with the principles of the Code of Ethics. The aim of the Code of Ethics is to support each member of the policing profession to deliver the highest professional standards in their service to the public. Key Responsibilities * Ensure that ISO 17025/17020 standards and FSR Code of practice compliance are achieved, maintained and adhered to within the Forensic Collisions Investigation Unit and wider organisation, and take action where they are not.* To lead the UKAS surveillance visits, inspections, and any extensions to scope.* Attend regional and national ISO 17025/17020 meetings and work closely with the Quality Management team at the Forensic Science branch of the East Midlands Special Operations Unit, Forensic Collision Investigation Network or other relevant stakeholders.* Maintain up to date knowledge of the implementation of ISO accreditation in Collision Investigation by the Forensic Science Regulator, attending national meetings and seminars when necessary.* Attend serious and fatal road traffic collisions with Forensic Collision Investigators and Vehicle Investigators to assess methods of retrieving evidence and competence that will comply with ISO standards.* Provide advice, guidance and leadership with regard to the different techniques used in forensic retrieval and analysis of evidence from serious road traffic collisions. This will include understanding technical analysis of CCTV, analysis of road markings and measurements, examination of tyre marks and vehicle defects, obtaining and processing scanner data and other complex investigative techniques.* Take responsibility for the calibration, validation and verification methods for all various tools and equipment used in Forensic Collisions Investigation, and horizon scan for new reliable technology that can help future investigations.* Consult with other Technical managers particularly surrounding CCTV and digital evidence retrieval and analysis to align departments in the acquisition and maintenance of ISO standards.* Periodically carry out presentations, briefings, and awareness training to officers and staff which incorporate the latest advancements in forensic collision investigations.* Maintain personal professional competence through environmental scanning in the digital forensics arena. Keep knowledge and skills current through environmental scanning and research for new investigative techniques, tools, software and technologies that will improve the quality and quantity of evidence produced or lead to other improvements in procedures and enhance digital forensic technical capabilities.* Ensure that all work undertaken is compliant with relevant legislation including the Road Traffic Act 1988, Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, European Convention of Human Rights, the Data Protection Act, ISO 17025 and FSR Code of Practice.* Some of this work will involve the attendance at or viewing of traumatic scenes with images of a graphic nature that can be ment
