We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Swindon to assist with the appointment of a Head of Strategic Highways and Transport, on a 6- month contract , highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Rate of Pay: £435.30 - £550.00 per Day Responsibilities: Identify the strategic direction of the department in order to meet the growth and regeneration ambitions of the Council. Develop and deliver, through existing and new contractual arrangements, the highways capital programme and major projects having oversight and programme management of large programmes of work to agreed outcomes and sound financial management. Provide visible and engaging leadership for the service ensuring an effective work culture is embedded that focuses on effective performance and continuous improvement. Develop and maintain effective partnership arrangements with key stakeholders including other local authorities and governing bodies. Take responsibilities for large revenue and staff budgets and locally funded capital investment programmes. Qualifications: Educated to degree level or equivalent by experience being able to demonstrate successful background and relevant experience at a senior management level in an appropriate, related work area. Chartered membership of a relevant professional body such as ICE. CIHT, IHE Proven experience of successful financial management including budget formation, budget management and project cost management.
