Are you a Biomedical Scientist seeking a new challenge Do you have a passion for BacteriologyAre you a Biomedical Scientist seeking a new challenge Do you have a passion for BacteriologyService Care Solutions are working with Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to recruit a Specialist Band 6 Biomedical Scientist to support a Bacteriology Team in the Lancashire area. The post holder will play a crucial role in processing biological samples through specialist investigations. They must demonstrate autonomy and proficiency in operating and troubleshooting specialist equipment. Additionally, they will provide expert advice to clinicians regarding the suitability of tests and associated timescales.The contract duration is for 3 months with the likelihood of extension. This is a full-time placement with 37.5 hours available. Part-time applications of 3 Days or more will also be considered. Shifts: 37.5 hours on a 24/7 rotaLocation: PrestonPay: £25.00 p/h LTD + £250 BonusJob Purpose – Band 6 Specialist Biomedical ScientistKey Responsibilities Autonomous Processing of Biological Samples: Independently process biological samples through specialised investigations.Ensure accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to protocols and standards.Identify and troubleshoot issues related to sample processing and equipment operation. Operation and Troubleshooting of Specialist Equipment: Operate and maintain specialised equipment used in sample processing.Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform routine maintenance.Keep abreast of technological advancements in equipment and procedures. Provision of Specialist Advice: Assess the appropriateness of tests based on clinical indications and patient conditions.Offer expert advice to clinicians regarding test selection, interpretation, and timescales.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise diagnostic processes and patient care. Mentorship and Training: Act as a mentor for junior scientific and support staff, providing guidance and support.Deliver training sessions to enhance the skills and knowledge of staff members.Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team. Bacteriology Expertise: Utilise specialised knowledge and skills in bacteriology to perform diagnostic tests.Ensure adherence to bacteriological safety protocols and best practices.Stay updated on emerging trends, methodologies, and technologies in bacteriology. Requirements IBMS Accredited degreeHCPC RegistrationCompleted / Working towards specialist IBMS portfolioSignificant experience in bacteriology within a clinical laboratory setting.
