Support Worker - part-time - 34hpw
Do your friends describe you as a lively, warm person? Could you support 2 men who have learning disabilities, helping them live more independently? You'll join us as a part time Support Worker, working 34 hours a week, dividing your time between our service in the Fawley area of Southampton and out in the community. We are open to the 34 hours being split between 2 people. You don't need background, as we provide a full induction and all the free training you could want. People join us from many different backgrounds, it's more important to us that you have a positive approach and are willing to learn. However, you will need to be a driver in order to drive the motability vehicle used by 1 of the gentlemen we support. About the role You'll be supporting 2 men in their 40s who each live in their own accommodation. 1 gentleman lives more independently and needs help with managing his finances and other day-to-day living tasks. For the other man, we provide 24-hour support while enabling him to learn new skills. You'll join in with their favourite activities, helping them be engaged members of their local communities. They are each quite sporty men, enjoying tennis and swimming along with other pastimes. 1 man needs some help with bathing, and both at times display behaviour which can be challenging, when they are feeling stressed. We'll give you all the tools you'll need to manage these situations constructively. You'll take your turn working shifts on a rota, including days, evenings, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
