About the role: Our overarching plan is to provide our customers with a continuous supply of safe, clean and palatable drinking water – by focusing on our five key priorities – our people, health & safety, water quality, risk & resilience, and efficiency. We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Technician, ideally with an instrumentation background based from our water production sites in Farmoor, Oxford, Goring , Banbury, Farringdon . You will be working in a multi-disciplinary team, travelling across Oxfordshire, alongside a range of operational teams such as systems, ICA and water quality.The overall responsibility of this role is to ensure that all equipment at our water production site is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods. You will inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair electrical & mechanical plant equipment.You will follow robust planned maintenance as well as getting involved in minor installation projects, electrical fault finding and emergency breakdown repairs to ensure our plant operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.You will be stepping into a role of great responsibility, by working to ensure a continuous supply of drinking water supply for our customers, and you will be expected to embrace this. Your working environment will be fast-paced and varied with plenty of opportunities for training and development in areas that you find interesting.Your initial 6-12 months will be partaking in our License to Operate Training Scheme to fully understand our varied water treatment work, booster and reservoir sites and be signed off to join the Standby Rota for the region.Please note that to fulfil standby rota duties your permanent address must be within 15 miles of the Thames Water company boundary. Key Accountabilities: Undertaking mandatory and planned preventative maintenance on several sites Responding to reactive alarms Installing and removing pumps Lift pumps to investigate failures Undertake electrical installations to current standards and regulations Report safety observations to improve the H&S of our sites Comply with Thames water policies, values, and behaviours We’re looking for you to have: Experience in inspecting, maintaining, fault diagnosis, testing, installation, modifying or repairing mechanical and electrical plant equipment Experience maintaining large pumps, actuated valves, electronic control systems such as VSD’s and 3 phase electrical switch gear is essential 18th Edition Wiring Regs NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 in Inspecting and testing NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 in Installation and commissioning NVQ Level 3 Electrical NVQ or City & Guilds level 3 in mechanical engineering would also be ideal Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues relevant to the industry The work will require physical fitness You will need the ability to work in confined spaces and will require completion of appropriate training for this Understanding of, or willingness to learn about water treatment processes. A full UK driving licence is essential A Thames Water van will be provided with all Withall tools and equipment.
