Embassy Summer Mission It is our shared goal to ensure that every student leaves our Embassy Summer centres with the following: Confidence in communicating in English A love for the English language and culture A feeling of having studied in a safe, secure and tolerant environment Engaged in enjoyable activities and excursions that support character development Accessed a global community of peers and make friends for life Activity Leader - From the 28th June 2019 As an Embassy Summer Activity Leader, you will be at the forefront of developing students' Life Skills by providing instruction, guiding and coaching. Together with your centre team, you will be responsible for maximising both student and Group Leader satisfaction, ensuring that we meet or exceed expectations. Activity Leader duties include: To lead, supervise, motivate and engage students on activities and trips To enthusiastically promote the Activity Programme To ensure adequate preparation and set up for on/ offsite activities To prepare, plan and lead students on excursions To maintain levels of discipline, safety and welfare To assist in day to day general duties as instructed by senior management To work in a way that promotes the safety and well-being of children and young people To carry out residential supervision duties, including meal and bedtime supervision as requested by the Centre Manager To complete 'prep time' in accordance with the requirements outlined by line managers to benefit the delivery of the activity and excursion programme To help manage and maintain activity stock, which will include lifting and carrying of equipment To assist and engage students with activities and excursions through the use of the Embassy Summer app What Requirements are required? Educated to A-Level or equivalent (Essential) Valid 1st Aid Certificate (Desirable) Specialism in sports coaching, drama and dance (Desirable) What Background is required? ALL Activity Leaders are expected to demonstrate: Background / or interest in working with young people (Essential) Background of working in a summer school environment (Desirable) What Skills are required? Strong communication and people skills Excellent organisational and planning skills Expertise to deal with complexity and resolve problems and issues Expertise to motivate and engage students Expertise to work under pressure Demonstrate initiative In accordance with our Company Code of Conduct, and any local policies and operating procedures relating to academic, welfare and safeguarding matters, you will need to demonstrate: The expertise to form and maintain appropriate relationships and demonstrate boundaries with children and young people Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours A positive attitude to the use of authority and maintaining discipline A high-level of attention to detail What Training will be offered? All New Activity Leaders will have: Pre-arrival on-line training A practical training day in London Role specific manuals Centre induction on arrival Observations CPD opportunities Opportunities to shadow managers and career progression Working week: 6 days out of seven (1 day off per week) 44 hours per week (including preparation time) Remuneration: From £303.26 per week (inclusive of holiday pay) £44.80 deduction per week for residential accommodation (if required) Disclosure and Barring Service: We will pay for your DBS application We will reimburse you the cost of your DBS update fee (£13) We look forward to welcoming you to our Embassy Summer team.
