Digital and IT Support Apprentice Level 3 Priorslee, Telford You don’t need to go to university to kickstart your career! By using uCertify practice, learn and labs provided to you as part of your apprenticeship, you'll be able to prepare yourselves for the following exams: CompTIA A + (Exam 1 and 2) CompTIA Cloud Essentials + We are recruiting on behalf of The Learning Community Trust that is a Telford and Shropshire based multi-academy Trust which was established in July 2017. This is an exciting time to join the local and community-focused trust. The trust operates out of our head office in Priorslee – known as Trust Central. The trust is expanding its central team, to deliver the best service and support to all our academies, and this role plays a vital part in the journey. The trust recognises the importance of its digital, IT, and data systems, and is heavily investing in maintaining and upgrading systems. It is vital that the trust has a strong team who can support users across the trust to use, standardise, and manage these business-critical systems. This role is more than just an IT support role, you will be welcomed into a warm environment, where digital and IT development are being driven to improve access to technology and IT service across the trust. The use of technology, and developing our students’ digital skills and awareness is an imperative element of community life. All our academies have a range of young people, from different backgrounds, and across the community we serve, we have a high proportion of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds – which can create barriers to accessing technology outside the classroom. It is vital that our academies‘ technology, is well maintained to support teaching and learning, and proactive support is given to enable learning to take place without disruption from technological problems. It is the role of the Digital and IT Support Apprentice to support the trust’s academies with their digital and IT requirements and support needs. The Digital and IT Support Apprentice will support the Digital Innovator and Technical Lead alongside academy and Telford & Wrekin Council technicians. The Digital and IT Support Apprentice will nurture a good relationship with key individuals at each academy to understand their support needs. It is vital that the Digital and IT Support Apprentice develops an in-depth knowledge of the Senso filtering, monitoring, administration and classroom management software, and activity promotes the benefits for the academies and the trust. The Digital and IT Support Apprentice will need to understand each academies’ technical priorities, to deliver proactive service to ensure minimum disruption, but also to be able to understand priorities when there is technical disruption and how to respond. It is imperative that the Digital and IT Support Apprentice enthrals themselves into technology support in the education sector, understanding their role as digital and IT support, but also engage with understanding all elements of it and digital technologies from end-users through to network and infrastructure architecture to support their personal development. The Digital and IT Support Apprentice will also have exposure to the broader Telford & Wrekin Council network working with their desktop support team to develop their knowledge, skills, and behaviours further, outside the trust, to ensure that the Digital and IT Support Apprentice has a fully rounded experience to progress to potential internal or external opportunities after the apprenticeship. Responsibilities The digital and IT support apprentice will: Deliver a customer focused first and second line IT support in person, by phone, chat, email and video conferencing. Provide excellent, prioritised fault finding and fixes for technology disruption/faults working with escalation paths where requiredAdminister user accounts, such as password re-sets and basic permissions, in line with the trust’s security policy. Utilise device management platforms to manage end users’ devices, ensuing that updates and new builds are being deployed timely, in line with the trust and campuses’ requirements. Deploy and install a range of IT and digital assets across campus Support to update and maintain the asset register for campuses, informing the Digital Innovator and Technical Lead timely, where replacements for unusable assets are needed or where assets are becoming end of life. Work with the trust’s Digital Innovator and Technical Lead, and network teams to ensure that device/web filtering and device monitoring is deployed, and its importance in line with statutory guidance Keeping Children Safe in Education and Working Together to Safeguard Children is maintained. Champion the potential of the Senso package to ensure the trust and its academies are fully utilising the package to innovate teaching and learning, and active safeguarding measure. Support with the development of ‘how to’ guides in a mix of mediums to support, staff, students, and parents/carers Support with implementation of new staff induction, expected use of trust equipment, log in on for the first time etc - Issuing of new staff ID badges, in line with trust policy. Support with managing the printing device service, ensuring the toner delivery monitors are working as expected, and fitting ‘user changeable parts’ for the campus. Nurture a positive relationship with key personnel to understand what their technology requirement is, from the primarily non-technical minded people Person specification. Qualifications and Experience GCSE in English and maths at 4/C or above/Level 2 functional skills English and maths pass (essential) Hold a current, valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle to travel between academies (essential) GCSE/Level 2 in information technology/computer science (desirable) Skills & Knowledge Ability to work independently and take responsibility for maintaining productivity (essential) Basic knowledge of the Microsoft application stack (M365, Office, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint etc) (essential) - Customer Service focused, and capable of comfortably working in a fast-paced team-oriented, and self-motivated environment (essential) Enthusiasm and passion for information technology and new/emerging technologies (essential) Resilient and positive mental attitude when dealing with difficult situations (essential) Maintains thorough and organised approach when working on issue troubleshooting and resolution (essential) Hours of work: Fixed term - 19 months Hours: 37 Apprenticeship Duration: 15 months and 4 Months End Point Assessment Desired Qualifications: An IT Apprentice is not expected to have undergone any formal training or hold qualifications for this role but some informal learning relevant to the role is desirable. Study towards and achieve the Information Communications Technician Apprenticeship standard The training you'll be provided with: Comprehensive onboarding Level 3 Information Communications Technician apprenticeship standard Training for all pathways of your IT career (support technician, network technician, digital communications technician) Access to uCertify training platform; core learning materials, assessments, and practical hands-on-labs e-learning training materials Bi-weekly virtual classroom training on the CompTIA vendor qualifications Monthly work-based coaches visits and competency checks Primary Goal Support desk for technical support You will also have the opportunity to network with a range of other apprentices on our programme who can share ideas, offer suggestions and support. Our apprentices love being able to help each other! As a Primary Goal apprentice you will also have access to our online portal that will provide you with information and technical guidance, as well as links to the helpdesk to speak to technicians who can give real-time advice and support.
