Where inspirational people like Kakoli are dedicated to encouraging everyone they work with to be the very best they can be. Ever since she was a child, Kakoli has believed that children are the ones who'll change the world for the better. Who'll create the future we all wish for. And she always knew her calling was to get on the front line and help those who might not be as fortunate as herself. Driven and passionate about making a difference, she first joined Westminster as a Social Work Assistant, and her managers immediately saw she had huge potential, so they encouraged her to study for a degree in social work. She passed with flying colours, and over the next fourteen years worked as a frontline Social Worker, a Senior Social Worker, a Deputy Service Manager and is now one of our Service Managers. Kakoli's vision is as clear now as it was all those years ago : to encourage and support children, and help them grow in safe, vibrant communities. Her achievements are many, but she's most proud of the fact that these days Westminster doesn't 'do things for families' but 'does things with families'. And she believes this huge but subtle difference to the way we work has allowed thousands of children in Westminster to fulfil their potential and live their dreams. The Role: As an Early Help Family Practitioner you can make your own powerful contribution to Westminster's success. You'll join our Early Help service which aims to reduce the number of children taken into care, increase school attendance and support strong and resilient parents. It also works to reduce the number of young people involved in crime, promote increased parent employability and tackle public health priorities for children and young people. You'll have a wide range of responsibilities : these include managing and reducing demand on social work services by encouraging universal services to develop their own early intervention skills, and taking on the role of lead professional for some children and families with additional needs. We'll expect you to have a good working knowledge of community resources and be able to signpost families and professionals to them, and where a referral has identified the need for specialist early intervention, you'll undertake the appropriate assessment and intervention work. Managing a caseload of families with multiple and complex needs, you'll ensure that effective risk management, comprehensive assessments and outcome:focused plans are in place, and work with schools to raise school attendance among pupils whose attendance is at 90 or below. The main focus of your work will be on addressing the underlying issues within families rather than just presenting concerns as a means of preventing re:referrals : with this in mind you'll have an excellent understanding of child development, family functioning and parenting, and be skilled at successfully engaging, assessing and supporting families to make changes to their lives that will have positive outcomes for their children. Please refer to the Job Description for more information About You: With a degree in an appropriate subject or relevant experience, you'll have an enhanced DBS check and a clear commitment to continued professional development. We'll expect you to have a good understanding of how to work in partnership with families who find it difficult to engage with services, and involve them in the design of the services they'l
