Description of role – Yard OperativeWe are currently recruiting for a Yard Operative to join a family run business who specialise within general haulage and pallet network operations.We are seeking a Yard Operative to support the current Warehouse Team and will report to the Yard Supervisor.The Candidate: Ability to work long shifts in cramped, loud and potentially hazardous warehouse environmentsAbility to work well in a team with other staff, such as Lorry Drivers or Warehouse Packers, to coordinate the movement of goodsKnowledge of warehouse health and safety requirementsKnowledge of industrial storage procedures, such as the correct way to stack pallets on top of one anotherAbility to itemise and record stock for inventoriesAccredited forklift operating licenceAbility to safely lift 20 kilogrammes unassistedPositive and a can do attitude.Excellent communication skills.Previous experience in Merchant, Logistic, Supply Chain Industry (desirable) Duties and Responsabilities: Manoeuvring forklifts safely in busy warehouse environmentsSafely stacking and unstacking large quantities of goods onto shelves or palletsMoving goods from storage areas to loading areas for transportUnloading deliveries and safely relocating the goods to their designated storage areasEnsuring that forklift driving areas are free from spills or obstructionsRegularly checking forklift equipment for faults or damagesUsing industrial plastic wraps and wooden pallets to safely stack and package goods for transportKeeping up to date on health and safety requirements and forklift operating proceduresConsolidating partial pallets for incoming goods To perform any other tasks which may be assigned by management from time to time.
