We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in West Sussex to assist with the appointment of a Health and Safety Officer, on a 3 -month contract , highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Rate of Pay : £17.59 per hour PAYE Responsibilities: Design, deliver, evaluate and develop HSW training, both generally and within the specialism for a wide range of audiences. Prepare succinct and accurate reports for the Senior H&S Officer, Senior Management Teams, and attend meetings for relevant items as required. Carry out HSW inspections, audits and site monitoring visits to measure the effectiveness of the Councils H&S policy and corporate guidance documents as per the project initiation document (PID) that details the monitoring programme to be conducted to ensure compliance with HSW and fire safety law and industry standards. Investigate and monitor accidents and incidents, ensuring adherence to statutory reporting requirements and identify and respond to patterns of injury and ill-health. Responsible for handling and processing information where care, accuracy and confidentiality are important, eg accident reporting. Undertake accident and incident investigations on site where required and provide advisory reports for management. Qualifications: A National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) Certificate or National Vocational Qualification Level 3 in Occupational Safety and Health Practice or a British Safety Council Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health.
